This post was inspired by the song “You’re Going To Miss This” by Trace Adkins. While I was listening to this song, I couldn’t help to think back to high school and thinking that there are definitely things I miss about those days. While that goes without saying for almost everybody, I started thinking about all the other milestones in a person’s life and how they might also look back and think about the days before and maybe miss them. With the summer wedding season coming to a close and people starting school its a good time to stop and “smell the roses”.
For my cousins that are starting their freshman year of high school, it’s important to remember that you will usually remember the highlights so make those count! For those that are starting their senior year, it will be many first lasts but enjoy them because it could be the last time you see some of your classmates until a reunion if your class goes against the odds and doesn’t lose someone before then. Go to all the activities, even if you really don’t want too. Those are memories that you can’t get back and something that you will be glad you did.
I can’t really speak on what it is like to go from being engaged to a newly wed or to being a parent overnight, but remember to not wish your life away. Things will happen in their own time and once that event happens, you will be forever changed.
I think that is the most important lesson in life… it doesn’t matter what happened yesterday or what will happen tomorrow. Live in the moment and know that you need to make memories and cherish those around you.
Here is the song I mentioned, in case you aren’t familiar with it.
